Ivana Sedej visited INRA-France

Mrs. Ivana Sedej, research assistant at the Institute for Food Technology, Research Center Food-to-Health, Novi Sad, visited INRA Institute, Clermont-Ferrand, France in May 3rd-8th, 2010. Here is a short review of her impressions:

As a participant of the FP7 project “FEED-TO-FOOD”, which includes the exchange of research experience, I spent 5 days visiting INRA. During the visit, my host person was Prof. Bauchart who introduced me with the organization and work of the Institute. Together, we made the plan for my training, which included visits to the laboratories of interest in INRA, discussions with researchers from different research groups, visit to farm, visit to analytical platform for metabolomic, proteomic and transcriptomic analysis, and visit to department for sensory analysis of aromatic volatile compounds. Apart from Prof. Bauchart, I made professional contacts with following researchers: Dr Pascal Tournayre, Dr Jean-Lous Berdague, Dr Dominique Gruffant, Dr Marc Ferrara, and Dr Denis Durand.

In the course of discussions with Prof. Bauchart and his research team, I had an opportunity to learn about lipid peroxidation, changes in lipids, fatty acids, analytical techniques (gas chromatography), as well as their ongoing studies.
Also, we talked about future collaboration between two Institutes, and possibilities for joined application for upcoming international projects.
In the end, I really appreciated the opportunity to take a part in the training in INRA because that allowed me to broaden my scientific and professional knowledge, to get familiar with new trends in food science research, and to make contacts for future collaborative studies.
